This weekend Watford Woodside provided the perfect winter setting for Dancing on Ice. Whilst the car park may have been an ice rink, the swimming pool was the scene for our swimmers to clock some valuable times in advance of the County & Regional championships.

Hertsmere Flyers peppered the results sheets with 15 Gold, 9 Silver & 9 Bronze.

A staggering 82 PB’s were recorded, which at this stage of the season is a fine reflection of the hard work in, & commitment to, training.

With 14 new County times achieved, notable new county qualifiers include Dylan Osher 100 & 200 IM plus Sahil Shah-Vora 50 Breast .

Age Group records continue to be smashed. Chloe Jacobs in the 13yr 50 back and 200 IM. Elisha Kramer in the 14yr 100 fly. Chloe Simmons in the 16yr 50 & 200 fly. Max Mydat in the 13yr 50 fly & Daniel Schindler in the 13yr 100 IM.

Daniel Schindler also achieved a regional qualifying time in the 400 free.

Head Coach  – Luke Dormer said:
‘It was exciting to watch so many other swimmers knocking on the door of county times these swimmers included Lyla Basu, Hannah Newman, Kate Peters and Georgia Walters for the girls and Sam Elphee and Peter Oakley for the boys. We wish them all luck in gaining their times at the Last chance no frills meet on the 10th February.

The whole team really had a positive atmosphere about it on poolside with swimmers cheering each other on and making sure that they kept warm and dry. Pre and Post race strategy was taken on board by all and this showed during the races with the high percentage of personal best times.
The swimmers also showed their professionalism before races getting in the zone to race and performing pre-race land warm ups. You should all be proud!

To date we now have 26 swimmers who have qualified for County’s on over 115 events between them and we still have one last final chance to go! Everyone at the club must now step up their commitment Swimmers, Parents, Coaches and Backroom Volunteers to help make this our most successful County’s and Regions in recent years.

Good Luck for rounds 2 and 3 or the Major League too!’
