Flyers take on all-comers at Copthall 100M meet
On Sunday 10th November Hertsmere Flyers Swimming Club went back to Barnet Copthall for another gala – the 100M Meet. The Club sent a mixed squad of 19 swimmers ranging in age from 10 to 15 years. As usual, there was another fantastic effort from the whole Squad, bringing home even more awards than the last gala at Copthall three weeks ago. Yesterday the swimmers from Hertsmere Flyers achieved 28 personal best swims, three gold medals, one silver medal and ten bronze medals.
Special mentions must go to the following who all achieved County Qualifying Times: Joshua Foreman (11 years) in 100M individual medley, Tomer Amit (Age 12) in 100M Freestyle and 100M Individual Medley, Adam Martin (13 years) 100M Backstroke and 100M Individual Medley, Daniel Schindler (14 years) 100M Breaststroke and 100M Individual Medley and Max Mydat (14 years) 100M Freestyle.
Additionally, massive Personal Best’s were achieved by Portia Nicholas-Jago (11 years) who knocked off a huge 8.89 seconds off her 100 Freestyle time and Sam Elphee (12 years) who knocked 5.84 seconds off his 100 Freestyle time.
A number of the Squad also achieved their first ASA official times in certain strokes and distances – well done to Sahil Shah-Vora, Dylan Osher, Erica Shuker, and Lara Hugh.
The Hertsmere Flyers Club Championships are on Saturday 30th November at 6.30pm at The Venue, Borehamwood. Members of the public are welcome to come along and watch a scintillating evening of competitive swimming with lots of trophies and awards up for grabs. In future galas it could be you swimming.
