On Saturday night, 30th November, was the Hertsmere Flyers Swimming Club annual Club Championships.  The annual event included some razzamatazz, with our MC Daniel Garcia keeping the events moving along with music and commentary during the races. In between events were the annual club presentations and awards, highlighting achievements made by swimmers over the past year.

The evening was a success with members of the crowd winning prizes from the raffle and cheering the swimmers on to more club records and personal bests. Over the course of the evening there were 4 Age Group Records broken, 10 new County Qualifying Times and 118 personal bests.

Well done to the following Annual Club Championships Award Winners, picked by the coaches:

Best Improver’s

Boy: James Thornley – James has shown great improvement having not moved up long ago. He is now at the front of the lane in Dev. 2 and is also participating in Age Group sessions. James has recently competed at the Hertfordshire Development Meet winning a gold medal in his IM and accomplishing many PB’s. James is a highly dedicated swimmer who is always ready for a challenge.

Girl: Natasha Tan – Natasha is currently moving up to Dev. 2 and it is hard to believe she was only in pre-squad a couple months ago. Natasha is an extremely hard working girl, whose rate of improvement has been incredible. She attends all the sessions and doesn’t let any of them go to waste trying her hardest in all of them.  It is clear to see that all her hard work is paying off.

Best Bagcat

Boy: Daniel SchindlerDaniel has continually improved his performance in the pool and trains exceptionally hard never missing a meter or shying away from a challenge. He qualified for 16 events at Counties in March 2013 and swam 3 events at the East Regional Championships in June this year.

Girl: Chloe Jacobs – Chloe is an exceptionally hard trainer. She likes to push herself to the limit in the pool and is always bubbly and chatty making everyone laugh during sessions. She qualified for 15 events at counties in March this year and swam 2 events at the East Regional Bagcat Championships in June this year.

Best Youth

Boy: Adam Colyer – Adam is enjoying his training again at Hertsmere Flyers and Adam swam in the sprint events at counties in both the 50M Fly and 50M Breast. He made the senior open final for the 50M Breast and his fastest time was 32.87 this year.

Girl: Elisha Kramer – Elisha works hard in the pool during training and gives advice to our younger swimmers when they need it. She qualified for 11 events at counties and narrowly missed out on a regional time. Elisha is also a qualified Timing official and offers her support to swim meet organisers when needed to represent the club.

Best Overall Swimmer

Dani Kramer – Dani always comes to the sessions raring to and ready to put all energy into her training. An extremely caring and kind girl who will always stay till the end of a competition to cheer her squad mates on. Her positive attitude rubs off on everyone and she’s always able to overcome her nerves before races. Having recently hit personal best times on all her races Dani’s improvements of all aspects of her swimming has been amazing.
