1. What is the entry ability to join the Flyers?

To join the club a swimmer needs to be competent in swimming 25 meters in each of the 3 main strokes.

2. How many times a week does the club train?

The club has training sessions on 6 days of the week.

3. How much does it cost to join the Flyers?

To join the Flyers there is a £15  joining fee, a yearly Amateur Swimming Association fee which gives you your insurance cover. This varies from £10.25 to £23.50 depending on the level of swimmer. Finally when the coach has decided which group you are in a monthly fee will relate to the pool time allocated to the group.

4. What age do you have to be to join the club?

There is no minimum age just a competence level as specified above.

5. What age do you have to be to do open galas?

Open galas are for 9 years old and over, but they do have entry times set to all events.

6. What group do you have to be in to do morning sessions or what age?

You need to be an open category swimmer to attend morning swimming sessions.

7. Do you have to ask your coach what you are swimming in club galas?

Yes, so you know what swims to do in your warm up.

8. Do I need to discuss what swims to compete in at open galas with the coach?

It is always advisable to discuss your choice of swims for any gala with the coach.

9. How many swim in a lane each session?.

The maximum number in any one lane would depend on the age group swimming in it. As a rough guide 8-12 would be the norm.

10. How many sessions am I expected to swim in a week?

You would be advised to swim as many as you can to get the maximum out of your membership. The group you are allocated will give you lane time on your ability, 2 sessions would be a minimum you would be encouraged to do.

11. Do the Flyers swim through school holidays?

The Flyers swim all year round with just a week’s break at Christmas.

12. Can I leave my child at the pool, alone during their training session?

Children under the age of 8 must have an adult present all the time; those over 8 are the responsibility of the parent when out of the water.
