CQT'S AT BARNET COPTHALL MEET
Last Sunday saw the annual Barnet Copthall 200’s Meet with a team of 16 of our swimmers competing all of whom were trying to gain County Qualifying Times (CQT’s) for next year’s Herts ASA County Championships in March. They swum 8 CQT’s and 24 pb’s between them and a further 14 pb’s on split times.
Chloe Simmons excelled in the first event by breaking both the Club and 14 year old girls Junior Record in the 200m butterfly picking up a gold medal and a 20 sec pb to boot. Her sister, Maddie, also swum an impressive pb in the same event narrowly missing out on a medal.
The boys backstroke – saw more pb’s from Alfie Fox, Conor Browne and Daniel Schindler with Daniel swimming an improved CQT. The girls event produced 2 more CQT’s from Georgina Brown and Kimia Baradaran with Kate Peters, Rebecca Mackett, Lyla Basu and Molly Missah swimming new best times.
Nicholas Michel produced a pb and a CQT in the boys freestyle picking up a silver medal for his efforts whilst Max Mydat, James Slater and Conor Browne also improved on their previous best times. The girls’ event produced 4 CQT’s and 5 pb’s with Rebecca Mackett winning a bronze medal. Georgina Brown also claimed the 15 year old girls Junior record for her swim.
The breaststroke event produced 4 more pb’s from James Slater, Daniel Schindler, Victor Zuluaga and Jonathan Mackett.
The swimmers will be back at Barnet Copthall in 3 week’s time for the 100's meet.
