GOOD LUCK LEANNE
Due to the cancellation of the Hertsmere Challenge on Saturday evening we were unable to present our Assistant Coach, Leanne Fernandes, with a gift from our swimmers.
We will now make the presentation at 7.00pm on Wednesday 21st Sept.
Below is a transcript of what would have been said:
"Before we start our gala tonight I hope our guests from other Clubs will indulge us in a small Hertsmere Flyers moment.
Tonight we say farewell to Leanne Fernandes who is leaving our Coaching team to study a Coach Education and Sports Development degree (Sports Science to you and me) at Bath University.
She joined the Club 11 years ago and during her swimming career with us achieved County and Regional times, being County Champion in her age group in backstroke several times. She went on to become Girls’ Club Captain for 4 years and has proved to be an inspiration to members both in and out of the pool. She very successfully combined studying for GCSEs and A’ Levels with attaining her ASA Levels 1 and 2 Teaching certificates. She has put her ASA qualifications to good use coaching at another local club and teaching at several swim schools and for the past year she has been our Assistant Coach.
The ever present smile on her face puts everyone around her at ease and she conveys very naturally to the club’s swimmers her passion and enthusiasm for the sport. Her work ethic is second to none and she will be a hard act to follow.
She will be sadly missed but we hope she will provide cover during holiday periods, in the meantime we wish her every success with her course.
Leanne, the swimmers from the Flyers would like you to have a small token of their appreciation for everything you have done for the club and for them."
