GOOD TIMES FROM FLYERS SWIMMERS AT SEASON OPENER
Flyers swimmers opened the season with some excellent performances at Hillingdon’s fabulous new long course pool.
Each of their swims was a personal best with many improving their short course pb’s when their times are converted.
Kimia Baradaran and Jonathan Mackett were the most improved swimmers of the day with Kimia recording over a 9 second improvement on her 100m breaststroke and Jonathan improving by over 4 seconds on the 100m freestyle.
Kimia also improved her 50m butterfly by over 3 seconds, as did Georgina Brown, both gaining silver medals for their swims.
In total 22 medals were gained with Chloe Simmons leading the way with 3 gold and 2 silver. Georgina won 2 gold and silver; other gold medallists were Daniel Schindler, Maddie Simmons and Kimia.
Kate Peters improved her time on the 50m freestyle and Alfie Fox bettered his time on the 100m backstroke.
Coaches, Becky Collins and Michael Fernandes, singled out Daniel and Georgina for having produced the best Flyers swims of the meet – Daniel in the 100m freestyle where he took the gold medal in his age group with an extremely impressive swim and Georgina in the 50m freestyle in which she took not only the gold medal in her age group but swum the fastest recorded time in the event.
Head Coach, Luke Dormer, said that the team performed beyond expectation for such an early season gala and that the swims gave him extreme optimism for the future.
