Great performances at Bob Daplyn Competition

The annual Bob Daplyn competition was contested this weekend at the Woodside Pool, Watford, between many of the Hertfordshire based clubs.  The competition has an unusual format, with teams of 5 girls and 5 boys under the age of 14 competing separately. Each swimmer is limited to one individual race.  There is an IM and 4 individual races and then the freestyle and medley relays.

The Flyers entered one boys’ team and two girls’ teams and every swimmer delivered a personal best swim.  The boys excelled themselves against stiff opposition to finish 2nd overall out of 18 teams, and the girls did very well to finish 9th and 19th with depleted teams.

Adam Colyer (100 IM) and Joe Gray (breast) both won their individual races.  Three junior records were broken during the event, by 13 year old Joe Gray (50 breast) and 12 year olds Rebecca Mackett (50 free) and Zoe Munkley (50 breast).
