Marvellous Win at First Round of Majors
It was a magnificent tour de force by the Flyers in the Majors’ Division 2 league gala on Saturday night. We won the gala with a resounding victory against 5 other clubs, by a margin of some 76 points over our closest rivals. It was a brilliant team effort; from the youngest children to the more experienced swimmers all playing their part. As we are a small squad, several children swam up out of their normal age groups and many swam multiple races.
There were 15 personal best swims and an incredible 17 first places in the individuals and 10 relay victories. Individual winners were Abigail, Adam C (3), Chloe, Christopher, Daniel, Joe (2), Leanne, Michael, Miranda, Rebecca, Yaron (2) and Zoe (2).
12 year old Adam Colyer was in splendid form, breaking 2 junior club records in the 50m fly and 100m breaststroke. Yaron Ash broke the club record in 100m backstroke and the corresponding 14 year old junior record.
We now await the results of the ‘virtual’ gala which replaces the cancelled round. The results from each event from this gala will be matched against the results in the other half of the draw. This will then produce the list for the winners’ gala at the end of February.
There were some very tired but happy children at the end of the evening. Well done to each and every one of you who helped produce this excellent result.
