Report of Potters Bar Open
17 of the Club’s swimmers took part in the annual Potters Bar Open on Saturday 13th June. Between them they had 39 personal best swims and collected 19 major medals and 24 place medals. The competition is run with double age bands so place medals are awarded for 4th to 9th place for the 12s and under and 4th to 6th place for the 13s and over. The under 12s swam 50m and the 13s and older swam 100m.
Gold medals were won by Christopher, Jay and Grace. Silvers were awarded to Daniel, Grace, Jay and Zoe. Bronze medals went to Abigail, Chloe, Daniel, Joe H and Zoe. In addition place medals were awarded to Abigail, Chloe, Christopher, Daniel, Maddie, Miran, Nick, Rebecca and Zoe.
Georgie B, Georgie I, Jessica, Kate and Kimia also competed, securing some fine personal bests amongst them.
Grace broke the Club record in the 100m IM and 2 junior records in the 15 year old girls’ 100m IM and 100m freestyle. Jay broke the 15 year old boys' 100m IM and 100m breaststroke records and Christopher the 16 year old boys' 100m backstroke record.
You may also notice the swimmers wearing some strange headgear. The sponsors of the competition awarded top swimmers in the freestyle events multi-purpose headwear. Our swimmers have been most inventve in uses for their prizes!
