TWO BUSY WEEKENDS OF COMPETITION
Our swimmers have been very busy over the last few weekends. On Sunday Nov 13th they took part in the 100 meet at Barnet Copthall. There were some excellent swims – 41 in total, of which 36 produced personal bests(pb’s) – there were also 10 pb’s swum on the 50m split times.
13 of the swims were county qualifying times( CQT’s) 3 of which were new and 10 improved on previously gained times: Daniel Schindler kicked off the proceedings with an 11 sec pb to gain a new CQT in the 100m butterfly, Kimia Baradaran followed by gaining her CQT in the 100m backstroke and later on in the gala Maddie Simmons achieved a new CQT in the 100m Individual Medley.
Some of the younger swimmers swum massive pb’s - well done to Tomer Amit, Conor Kavanagh, Max Mydat (all competing in their first open gala) plus Lyla Basu ,Jonathan Mackett and Molly Missah.
Georgina Brown and James Slater both swum 3 pb’s with Georgina breaking the 100m butterfly junior record for 15 year olds.
Chloe Simmons took the gold medal in the 100m butterfly, silver in 100m IM and completed the set with a bronze in 100m backstroke. Rebecca Mackett swum an excellent 100m freestyle to take the silver medal and added a bronze in the 100m IM.
The following Sunday five of our development swimmers competed for the first times at the Herts ASA Development Meet at The Venue, all the events were 200m – a test of endurance and counting as well as swimming! – Joel Sheena swum 2 excellent pb’s with Kyla Rogers gaining 1 pb. Joshua Foreman, Iian Ostilly and James Warburton also took part with all our swimmers gaining valuable experience.
